Out of bad habits into good habits

I have always been a stay at home mom.For almost 20 years. It's very easy to develop bad eating habits out of convenience. As a mom you tend to put the needs of others ahead of your own needs. There is nothing wrong with taking care of your family. But,If you don't take care of yourself also you will not be able to give anyone your best. One of my favorite healthy new habits I have been developing is cooking fresh organic whole foods for me.I have developed a taste for tofu.I know,I know not Tofu! That's fine .Find what you like that's fresh and healthy. The cool thing about tofu is it will soak up the flavor of what ever you season or marinate it with. It's high protein, low cal,low cholesterol, low salt, low fat and it really does not have to taste bad.I buy extra firm organic tofu.I  cut it into 1/2 inch cubes about 1/2 cup.I marinate it with soy sauce and my favorite herbs for 15-20 minutes. Then I stir fry it with a little non-stick cooking spray till lightly brown and crispy.Do not over cook! It will make it rubbery.Toss with 2-3 cups of non-stick cooking spray stir fried  favorite veggies.I like carrots, snap peas, bell peppers, green onions, water chest nuts, cabbage. You can also replace burgers with portabella mushrooms. They are the big brown ones.Just grill till tender and serve on a whole grain bun with onion, tomatoe, lettuce, veggie cheese and a 1/2  teaspoon mayo.At about 4 calories and under 8 grms fat you can't go wrong.Very tasty! And water drink water a lot! You will get hooked on water.I also gave up soda pop.I drink propel, herb teas and dark chocolate hot cocoa.I use Truvia sweetener. It REALLY taste like sugar! It's granulated,it's all natural made from stevia leaves. No ucky after taste either!I also eat a lot of bananas.Bananas are packed  full of potassium.Potassium is needed to burn of fat from our bodies and to absorb calcium.
